During my Summer internship at Cognex, I primarily worked on two projects:
A proof-of-concept demonstrator for focusing cameras with virtual images, and a lens-gripping
mechanism.
Lens Gripping Mechanism
Virtual Image Focus Proof-of-Concept Demonstrator
My contributions and experience gained include:
- Utilized combination of off-the-shelf and custom-designed optomechanical
components in proof-of-concept demonstrator for focusing camera with virtual
images
- Lens gripping mechanism: Designed, CADed and FEA analyzed mechanism, then
did V and V testing on 3D printed prototypes
- Quoted machined parts through Xometry and Protolabs
- Gained experience using Solidworks PDM for file management
- Gained experience making equation-driven CAD
- Learned about precision mechanics and optomechanics
